Precautions for Using Aluminum Hydroxide Flame Retardants

Superior flame retardancy and smoke suppression—dehydrates and decomposes upon heating. After dehydration, it forms an Al₂O₃ protective film on combustible surfaces to block oxygen, reduce combustible gas and oxygen concentrations, effectively inhibit polymer thermal degradation, and suppress smoke generation through adsorption.

Product Features of Aluminum Hydroxide Flame Retardant:
1. This causes carbonization without producing flammable volatiles, thereby preventing combustion. Suitable for composite materials with processing temperatures below 200°C.
2. Superior Insulation Properties — Fluidized bed purification significantly reduces impurity ions like iron, sodium, and potassium.
3. High Whiteness — Does not interfere with composite product dyeing. 4. Low Iron Content — Below 0.005%.

Instructions for Use:

1. Select for standalone use based on the performance requirements of aluminum hydroxide flame retardants. Particle size is closely related to the properties of composite materials. Smaller particle size yields finer surface texture and more pronounced effects, but increases viscosity during blending. Carefully adjust formulations to balance various properties.

2. Blending fillers of different particle sizes in appropriate ratios within the polymer system creates a dense filler network, enhancing flame retardancy. A well-designed compounding system prevents filler settling or floating, reduces viscosity in resin blends at equivalent filler dosages, and facilitates shear dispersion.

3. When aluminum hydroxide flame retardants are ultrafine, increased specific surface area leads to agglomeration, poor polymer compatibility, and difficult dispersion, impairing composite processing properties. Hydrophobic aluminum hydroxide exhibits excellent interfacial compatibility with polymers. Its surface coating undergoes bonding reactions with base resin groups, reducing blend viscosity, eliminating interfacial stress concentration, and enhancing composite mechanical properties. Therefore, hydrophobic products are recommended.

4. Optimal addition levels should be determined experimentally. Free samples of aluminum hydroxide flame retardant (under 5kg) are available upon request.

Precautions: Store aluminum hydroxide flame retardant in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Prevent moisture absorption from the floor and avoid proximity to high-temperature heat sources. Transportation: This product is non-hazardous. During transport, protect against water and moisture, handle with care to prevent packaging damage. Do not mix with other acidic or alkaline substances. Avoid exposure to air when ambient relative humidity exceeds 80%. If necessary, bake at 110°C before use. After use, implement sealed moisture-proof measures. It is recommended to use the packaging immediately after opening the box.
