4. Use as Chemical Raw Material
Aluminum hydroxide filler is produced on a large scale as a high-purity refined product that dissolves rapidly in strong acids and alkalis. Consequently, it serves as a crucial raw material for various aluminum salts such as alum and polyaluminum chloride in the petrochemical industry. It is also utilized in producing non-wood-based detergents, catalyst carriers, and other petrochemical applications.
5. Modification of Aluminum Hydroxide Filler
Although aluminum hydroxide filler exhibits strong reactivity as an amphoteric hydroxide and finds extensive application as a flame-retardant filler in plastics, rubber, and related industries, its low decomposition temperature limits its effectiveness as an inorganic flame retardant. Modifying the aluminum hydroxide filler can enhance its decomposition temperature and allow for increased dosage.
6. Use as a Filler for Artificial Marble
As a filler for artificial onyx. Producing artificial onyx or marble using aluminum hydroxide filler combined with unsaturated polyester resin or methacrylic resin yields products with semi-translucency and satisfactory light transmission. This is due to aluminum hydroxide's refractive index (1.57) closely matching that of polyester resin. Additionally, artificial products can be manufactured in various colors and patterns, and patterns. Compared to natural products, artificial products offer numerous advantages: lower cost, lighter weight, reduced brittleness, and the ability to be manufactured in various colors and specifications. Consequently, artificial marble finds extensive application in high-end sanitary ware, kitchen renovations, conference table tops, panels, decorative boards, and more. Generally, aluminum hydroxide fillers used in producing artificial agate and artificial marble (artificial quartz stone) exhibit high whiteness (>95%), excellent crystalline structure, and moderate particle size (500 mesh).
